Ken Jy Jou Lyfie? If not, I think it is time to Get Naked with StyleByLoren

As a stylist, whether fashion or personal, I am faced with women who have no cooking clue what their body shape is. I know, growing up, I wasn’t told about my body shape or even cared what I was. As long as I am healthy, I am happy! But hey, when you start listening to women who actually care about the pennies they spending, you will notice a few common statements, such as “that colour wouldn’t look great with my complexion” and/or “that would not suit my body well“.

Now, that to me sounds like a queen who knows her body shape and what to spend her money on!

With fashion being in our faces 24/7, it is easy to fall into the trap of impulsive buying because somehow we feel the need to keep up with trends. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with being fashion forward and trendy. But darling, shopping the latest fashion and looking terrible in it is a big NO, NO!

Is this your fault? No, not at all. Businesses/Retailers are more focused on what brings in the money fast, than providing a lifestyle that is emotionally sustainable. And that is okay, if that is their vision and mission. But now, think about it… When you walk into a store, do you get the assistance you need? Fetching a bigger size garment isn’t what I am referring to. I am talking about having a sales assistant help you select a style or cut that best suits you. Do you get that? Maybe in smaller boutiques, but it is rare!

I worked in retail long enough to appreciate the pros. As a consumer, I am annoyed when I walk into a store and experience poor services and witness women walking out looking depressed. So, instead of complaining about it, I decided to host and event to teach you about your body type and equip you to be able to help yourself and walk out of a store more confident than you did when you walked in.

You keen?

The primary objective of the event is to create body positivity awareness and educate women from various walks of life on how to dress their body type and feel confident and beautiful in whatever they adorn themselves in. The event will also create a platform for local designers to showcase their labels, individuals to network, transfer ideas and promote positive, effective and creative collaborations within the industry with like-minded individuals.
